A8: Exchange and transfer of knowledge within the Danish water resource base
Contact: Marina Bergen Jensen, KU-life
The objective is to develop concepts and
methods for making the research results generated in A1-A7 operational in a
Danish and international context. The supportive models and tools to be
developed address traditionally separated professions, i.e. A1 and A3 address
hydrologists, A2 and A4 address environmental chemists, A5 addresses urban
planners and landscape architects, while A6 and A7 address decision makers and
their professional staff. To introduce a shift in paradigm these professions
need to share a common understanding of how different infrastructure solutions
affect the sustainability of urban water systems. In doing so, they all become
part of the Danish water resource base.
The experience within the Danish Water
and Wastewater Association (DANVA) and the Danish Town Planning Institute on
setting the agenda in the professions they serve will be exploited and combined
with knowledge compiled at KVL regarding transfer and exchange of knowledge
between researchers and practitioners (Jensen et al. 2000) to formulate
Transfer-of-Knowledge (T-o-K) programs. As illustrated in the Dissemination Plan
(App. b) the T-o-K programs will target different groups: Master and Ph.D
students from different disciplines - to replenishing the Danish water resource
base with specifically 2BG educated resources; the professions listed above – to
embed their expertise in the A1-A7 output and build their 2BG competences;
professional consultants, researchers and end-users with interest in
international urban development – to exploit the joint competencies within the
Danish water resource base for suggesting superior approaches to urban water
challenges in developing countries, to the benefit of all parts.
