Case study areas

The municipalities of Greve, Odense,
Aarhus and Copenhagen constitute case study areas. All are representative of several general
and 2BG-relevant urban water challenges, for instance:
In Greve, sewer overflow and flooding of buildings are severe problems – 2BG retention and infiltration solutions are challenged by high groundwater levels, drinking water interests, few green areas;
In Odense, insufficient drainage capacity under heavy storms is likewise a problem, supplemented with strong interest in exploiting the socio-cultural values of water in the urban setting;
In Aarhus smaller wastewater treatment plants are being replaced by larger centralized plants highlighting the need for evaluating the potential for supplying with stormwater, and Aarhus also expects a considerable urban development putting the natural conditions for urban drainage under pressure, etc.
In Copenhagen the focus lies within the use of water in the urban landscape.
All municipalities have interest in participating in the A6 and A7 activities on the planning process and economic aspects, respectively.
